CG Nichols Builders work with you from early in the process to talk about your site,
the type and square footage of the house you want to build and the potential cost
ranges you can expect. Honest and open communication between builder and homeowner
is the hallmark of Chris's approach to building. By encouraging our homeowners to
feel as there are "no dumb questions", and that each participants input is a significant
part of the end result, we are able to smoothly move you through the building process.
From the initial conceptual meetings all the way through to the first meal and evening
you spend in your new home, Chris and the other capable professionals that are part
of his team will help you to feel that you are being gently led through a very rewarding
process. One which is sure to provide you with a lifetime of memories.
We will begin with the design and pricing of your project, and make modifications
until both meet and often exceed your needs and expectations. We have worked with
homeowners that bring their own architect, we have worked with owners and provided
architectural services for them and we have also worked with building systems companies
(Connor Homes, log home companies, timberframe companies, etc). Once final design
and pricing are in place, you will receive a contract outlining the specifications,
timeline and payment schedule.
We try to incorporate as many green features we can into each home. From siting
the building to gain passive solar heating to designing a LEED certified home and
everything in between is possible. Some of the more popular green features include:
- use of timber from the site for building structure
- low flow toilets and plumbing fixtures
- high efficiency boilers
- tight building envelope to minimize air infiltration and help lower your energy
costs
- use of recycled building materials
- use of salvaged building materials
- construction waste recycling to minimize landfill amounts
- use of low VOCs for adhesives, sealants, carpet and paints
- specifing green carpets for improved air quality
- use of locally produced and manufactured materials
- energy efficient lights
As the sitework is started you will begin making final finish and color selections
and make final selections for all of the allowances that are carried in the budget.
All of this happens with the guidance of Chris, who will direct you in these decisions
and provide helpful deadlines to keep your project on schedule and on budget. Chris
has many years of experience with all of the building trades that go into the completion
of a home and will provide many resources for making decisions.
Once you have occupied your home, CG Nichols Builders will provide a general homeowner
manual as a reference for the use and maintenance of your home. The home has a typical
one- year construction warranty, and you will also benefit from any manufacturer
warranites that are provided on equipment and materials.
